Silver Desk Accoutrements

Silver has always played an important role in adorning the desk and office with the centrepiece in Georgian and Victorian times being the silver inkstand or standish.

Letters were traditionally sealed with wax and so silver wax jacks and portable bougie boxes were integral to sending documents, whilst silver tapersticks provided a flame for melting and the receipt of letters aided by the use of a silver paper knife.
