Bougie Box - Cylindrical Pierced - Sheffield 1898 by James Dixon & Sons - 9cm high; 6cm diameter; 120g - PF/4618
This is an attractive late Victorian silver bougie box for holding and dispensing sealing wax.
The cylindrical box is beautifully pierced and has a pull-off cover to allow the sealing wax coil (one is present in this example) to be inserted, removed or fed through the hole in the top. There is a small conical-shaped snuffer (with matching hallmarks) for extinguishing the lit wick and a handle for carrying around. The bougie box is in excellent all round condition.
