Paper Knife - Parcel Gilt with Agate Handle - London 1901 by Sampson Mordan & Co. - 21.2cm long; 56g - EY/3692

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a superb silver paper knife made by Samson Mordan during the early reign of Edward VII.

The agate handle is ergonomically formed to fit the hand and set within a beautifully pierced silver-gilt holder to simulate a torch or beacon. The flat, spatula type blade is engraved with an original ownership monogram in a funky block style and the London hallmarks, plus the cylindrical stem bears the name of the makers: "S Mordan & Co.".

This is a high calibre letter opener with a good, hefty weight and a feeling of superior quality that one expects from Sampson Mordan. It remains in excellent condition.
