Antique silver wine labels with hallmarks from the York Assay Office are scarce and this Whisky label is a great example with marks for the partnership of Cattles & Barber.

Small silverware from the early 19th century was rarely struck with a full set of hallmarks and the omission of the date letter and town mark on this example is typical. However, the working period of the partnership can accurately date the label to between 1807 and 1813.

This good looking Georgian bottle ticket remains in excellent condition.
