Wine Label - Lisbon; Kidney-shaped with Gadroon Border - London circa 1765 by Margaret Binley - 4.8cm wide; 9g - YM/4096a

This is a fine quality silver wine label with the scarce title "LISBON" and made by the lady silversmith Margaret Binley.

Made during the early George III period, this kidney-shaped bottle ticket has a chased feather edge border that was the height of fashion at the time. The reverse side is stamped with the distinctive "MB" punch for this lady silversmith and the lion passant guaranteeing sterling standard silver - these help date the label to the years either side of 1770 as Margaret Binley took over her husband Richard's workshop in 1764 following his premature death. This attractive wine label is in excellent condition.
