York Sherry Label, JB 1814
Wine Label - Sherry; Plain Banner - York c.1814 by James Barber - 6.2cm wide; 13g - HJ/6263b
This is a large English provincial silver wine label made from a good gauge of silver and bearing the title SHERRY to the front. It bears a single "JB" makers mark for James Barber of York. Barber mostly worked in partnership with other silversmiths, however for a brief period around 1814 he was working alone and entered the "JB" mark. This rare bottle ticket remains in excellent condition.
