Paper Knife - Glis-glis Handle - London 1987 by Brian Leslie Fuller - 17.8cm long; 58g - YP/7641

This is a superb silver paper knife or letter opener made by Brian Fuller and features a glis-glis to the terminal.

This letter opener has a good feel in the hand and is in excellent condition with clear London hallmarks.

Brian Leslie Fuller was formerly the manager of Gerald Benney's silversmithing workshop before setting up his own retail shop in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The edible dormouse (or glis glis) is not native to the UK, but appears as a self-sustaining population in the area around Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire following escapee introductions during the early 20th century. Brian Fuller adopted the bushy tailed animal as his emblem and this paper knife shows it to full effect. The glis glis is cast and is grasping the top of the handle with its bushy tail curling around the stem.
