Shell-back Georgian Silver Table Spoon, 1766
Sold
Table Spoon - Hanoverian with Shell-back - London 1766 by Thomas Dene - 20.1cm long; 49g - NP/2327
This is a fine example of an early George III period silver shell-back table spoon.
The rococo-style shell motif to the reverse of the bowl remains super-crisp and the spoon is stamped with a good, clear set of hallmarks for the spoonmaker Thomas Dene. This is a good quality, antique spoon in fine condition with an unworn bowl (there is a very shallow, small bruise to the bowl). It is engraved with original "MA" initials to the reverse terminal, plus a later crudely scratch engraved "1816" date.
