Prize Silver Quill Pen, 1839

This is a scarce and beautiful example of a large silver quill pen given as a prize in the early years of Victoria's reign.

Engraved in script to the handle is the inscription: "Prize Pen gained by W. Banting at Dr. Lord's School Tooting Midsummer 1840". These silver quills were generally given as school prizes for achievements in writing. Made by Rawlings & Summers, this 11" long silver quill is in fine condition.
