Candlesticks (pair) - Cast, Shell Cornered - London 1898 by Edwin Doxey - 29.5cm high; 1570g combined weight - HF/4068

These are a terrific pair of late Victorian 12" high cast silver candlesticks.

Following the shell cornered fashion of the George II/III periods, this pair of candlesticks have an impressive look to them and have a good, solid, weighty feel in the hand. They are made from cast silver which is the superior form of candlestick manufacture and their hefty weight of over 1.5kg of silver provides them stability. The sconce nozzles to the top have a bayonet fitting to give them added security and are removable to allow easy cleaning of molten wax (boiling hot water does the trick!).

These are high quality silver candlesticks in excellent condition with a full set of London hallmarks to the underside.
