Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a great looking, antique George III silver table spoon made in Newcastle by the prolific partnership of John Langlands & John Robertson. The spoon is attractively engraved to the stem with bright-cut engraving and the cartouche contains a script initial that would have referred to the original owner.

The Newcastle hallmarks to the reverse include the maker's mark "IL/IR" for Langlands and Robertson who were working together during the final quarter of the 18th century. Newcastle silver of this period often lacked the date letter but considering both the dates of the partnership and the style of the spoon, a date of circa 1790 can be confidently placed on this piece.

This silver table spoon remains in excellent condition with a good bowl tip and crisp engraving.
