Newcastle Silver Caddy Spoon, 1800
£220.00
Caddy Spoon - Long stem with Fluted Bowl - Newcastle circa 1800 by Thomas Watson - 10.2cm long; 11.4g - BJ/8684
This silver caddy spoon features an unusually long handle (perhaps to reach in to a deep caddy box) with bright cut engraving around an original script engraved initial. Made in Newcastle Upon Tyne by one of the most prolific silversmiths working out of this northern city, this spoon was made in the final few years of the 18th century and as typical for the assay office does not bear a date letter. The caddy spoon is in fine condition.
