A fabulous Victorian silver mustard pot in the high Gothic style, complete with crested spoon.

This large, mustard pot is superbly made with die-stamped openwork panelling and a hinged cover with gilt interior and topped by an architectural style finial. The pot is completed by its blue glass liner and fiddle pattern mustard spoon with stag crest. Although by different makers, the two pieces are dated London 1846 and presumably the Angell family father & son partnership commissioned Chawner & Company (run by George Adams), as specialist spoonmakers, to supply a suitable spoon. The spoon bowl appears to have originally been gilded and still bears vestiges of gold.

This mustard pot is much bigger than typical examples and both it and the blue glass liner remain in excellent condition.
