Salt Pots (pair, boxed) - Quatrefoil with Four Handles - London 1934/35 by Omar Ramsden - 10cm wide; 5.5cm high; 278g combined weight. Box = 27cm x 16cm - AG/5932

The quality of this pair of silver salt pots is simply stunning and the presence of their original wooden presentation box is a real bonus.

Made by Omar Ramsden, the most important British silversmith of the 20th century, these salts are high quality, hand-made pieces in the arts and crafts style. They are good-sized pieces that could be used for alternative purposes too. They have a quatrefoil profile with four flying handles and a pedestal foot. The interiors are lightly gilded (note: the gilding is a little worn on one as can be seen by the small, blackened area in the base) and both are clearly struck with London hallmarks and the Omar Ramsden "OR" maker's mark.

As one might expect from Omar Ramsden, even the box is a high quality product. For starters, it is made of wood and is beautifully lined with velvet and satin. The Omar Ramsden name is inked to the inside cover and the plaque provides all the provenance you need for placing the origin of these salt cellars at Ramsden's St Dunstans workshop in Chelsea, London.

An exquisite set in fine condition!
