This is a good-looking Georgian silver lemon strainer with a single handle and hook for hanging over a bowl or goblet.

Used to prevent fruit pips spoiling the punch, lemon strainers were a prerequisite of Georgian parties for adding fruit juices to the mix and ideal in modern times for cocktails too. This example was made by the top silversmith William Abdy and has an attractive pierced design to the circular bowl. It benefits from being in fine condition with a clear set of hallmarks.
