Decorated Irish Silver Cup, c.1770 by R Tudor

This is a very fine Irish silver 2-handled cup made by the Dublin silversmith Richard Tudor.

The cup has a lovely feeling of quality in the hand and is decorated all over with stunning engraving centred by a script monogram with additional flourishes to the front. The cup is hallmarked in typical Irish style for the period with no date letter, however the form of the Hibernia and crowned harp punches help date it to circa 1770 and the maker's working period confirms this.

This is an excellent example of a rare form of Irish silver presenting in fine condition.
