Basting Spoon - Hanoverian Rattail - London 1719 by Henry Greene - 36.5cm long; 174g - VR/7248

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

At over 14" long, this handsome, silver basting spoon has an impressive look and feel in the hand. It has a bold rattail to the reverse of the generously sized bowl and a well defined central ridge to the front stem that defines the Hanoverian family of patterns. This large, George I period spoon is in excellent condition with Britannia Standard hallmarks - the maker's mark is somewhat worn, although a distinctive horse-shoe motif can be seen that is almost certainly for the specialist spoonmaker Henry Greene (Grimwade 878). The reverse terminal is engraved with an original betrothal triangle "L" over "G*E".
