The Service

We are pleased to be offering a lovely, elegant 20^th Century silver cutlery service in Old English with Feather Edge Pattern. The service provides for all seven pieces for a standard dinner service to cover 12 place settings, with additional items available as extra.

All the spoons and forks were made by the prestigious Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Limited in London between 1928 and 1938 and benefit from being in superb condition. Each piece bears a fabulous engraved crest of a crowned lion.

The table and dessert knives are hallmarked Sheffield 1993 and made by Terry Shaverin. They have good solid silver handles with stainless steel blades. They do not bear the engraved crest.

Old English Feather Edge Pattern

Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770 and the addition of elegant engraved decoration along the border of the handle was first seen within the first decade of production. The feather edged border gives the pieces an extra feeling of quality and breaks up the plain Old English pattern.

Components

This 90-piece service consists of the following:

Total weight of weighable silver 3140 grams (101 troy ounces), plus 24 silver handled knives.

Optional Extras

We have some extra pieces from the original service which are available on request – 12 dessert spoons and 12 dessert forks which could be useful for a starter course, plus four more table forks .

Condition

This service appears to have had very little use and is in superb original condition with unworn tines and bowls.

Presentation

This canteen is offered in new anti-tarnish cutlery rolls holding 12 items per roll.
