The Service

This is a beautiful 63 piece dining service of silver flatware and cutlery in probably the most sought after 20^th century pattern. The service provides for the six pieces for up to 10 people, together with three serving spoons.

All piece were made by the famous Georg Jensen workshop with the vast majority of pieces bearing the post-1945 mark (many also bearing London import marks for the late 40’s/early 50’s). All the spoons and forks are an exact match to each other, whilst the knives have very slight differences to the stainless steel blade colour. All items bear an appropriate Georg Jensen Sterling mark.

Cactus Pattern

This pattern was designed by Gundolph Albertus in 1930 and is also known by its Danish name of Kaktus. It has a stylized cactus motif low down on the stem and is so designed to give a streamlined effect so typical of the Art Deco period. Its simple, elegant beauty has inevitably lead to it becoming the most popular and highly sought after of all Jensen flatware patterns.

Georg Jensen

Georg Jensen was a Danish silversmith who opened his first silver workshop in 1904 in Copenhagen. He was to become the most renown maker of silverware in the World with shops in London, Paris, New York, Berlin and Stockholm. His company embraced the Art Deco movement of the 1920’s and 30’s and some of his most important patterns were designed during this period. Many of the Jensen flatware patterns have endured the test of time and remain highly popular today.

Components

This 63-piece service consists of the following:

Total weight of weighable silver is 2340 grams (75.25 troy ounces) plus 20 silver handled knives with stainless steel blades and a serving spoon with stainless steel bowl.

Presentation

This canteen is a matched set with pieces made at different times. The spoons and forks are identical (apart from the workshop marks), but the knife blades have slightly different tones – these will not be discernible when the table is laid out!

The set is supplied in six new anti-tarnish cutlery rolls. These navy blue rolls have individual pockets and hold up to 12 pieces in each roll.
