£195.00
Butter Knives (pair) - Cactus (Kaktus) Pattern - London 1935/6 (import) by Georg Jensen Ltd. - 15.3cm long; 64g combined weight - CN/5397
These are an elegant pair of silver butter knives in Georg Jensen's famous Cactus pattern.
Made from a single piece of solid sterling silver throughout, these butter knives have a lovely, stylish feeling in the hand. Dating from the Art Deco period, they bear English import hallmarks for 1930's London in addition to the usual Georg Jensen sterling workshop marks.
This pattern was designed by Gundolph Albertus in 1930 and is also known by its Danish name of Kaktus. It has a stylized cactus motif low down on the stem and is so designed to give a streamlined effect so typical of the Art Deco period. Its simple, elegant beauty has inevitably lead to it becoming the most popular and highly sought after of all Jensen flatware patterns.
