£280.00
Salad Servers (pair) - Cactus (Kaktus) Pattern - London 1949 (import) by Georg Jensen Ltd. - 20.2cm long; 164g combined weight - GU/1748h
These are a fabulous pair of silver salad servers made by Georg Jensen in the Cactus pattern and supplied in a Georg Jensen presentation cardboard box.
Comprising a spoon and fork, these servers were intended for use with salad but can be put to many purposes. They are in excellent condition with London import hallmarks for 1949.
This pattern was designed by Gundolph Albertus in 1930 and is also known by its Danish name of Kaktus. It has a stylized cactus motif low down on the stem and is so designed to give a streamlined effect so typical of the Art Deco period. Its simple, elegant beauty has inevitably lead to it becoming the most popular and highly sought after of all Jensen flatware patterns.
