Set of 6 Silver-gilt Flameback Trefid Teaspoons, c.1680
Reserved
Teaspoons (6) - Flame-back Trefid; Gilt - London circa 1680 - 11cm long; 67g combined weight - JT/6788
This is a superb set of six late 17th century silver-gilt trefid teaspoons in fabulous condition.
Dating from the late Charles II period, these teaspoons are typical of the very best quality spoons from the period with all over engraved decoration including flamebacks to the reverse of the bowls and pronounced trefid terminals. The majority of this type of teaspoon are unmarked but a major bonus with this set is the presence of the "MR" crowned maker's mark - as yet unattributed.
The gilding has a lovely yellow appearance and is contemporary with manufacture. These are a fabulous set of teaspoons in superb condition.
