Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fabulous large silver serving spoon from the Queen Anne period. Closer in size to a basting spoon than a table spoon , this long-handled spoon has an impressive appearance and from the Latin "Ex Dono" inscription to the front terminal was at some point in the early 18th century given as a gift from the original owner "AW" (who's contemporary to manufacture initials are also on the back) to a "WP".

This excellent spoon is in generally fine condition with just some very minor dings within the bowl and a good patina. The Britannia Standard hallmarks are a little worn (but can be read for London 1706 by the Foster Lane silversmith Thomas Burridge - Grimwade reference 241) and account for the very competitive price for such an unsual sized and impressive spoon.
