Silver & Enamel Ashtray, 1946 John Ferguson Gow

Made by the accomplished silversmith and enameller John Ferguson Gow, this striking silver ashtray is superbly decorated in red enamel.

This square ashtray is made from a good gauge of silver and the central flowerhead and four side vignettes are in typical Gow style but enamelled in a deep red with orange tints which is a departure from Gow's more typical greens and blues. It is in excellent condition with clear 1940's hallmarks to the underside.
