Vase - Baluster Form with Spot-hammered Finish - Birmingham 1971 by Robert Welch - 12.5cm high; 274 grams - RT/4719

This is a stunning hand-made silver vase by the highly rated silversmith Robert Welch.

At 5" tall, it is a good-sized vase with a wide opening at the top - ideal for a bouquet of flowers. It has a lovely baluster form and retains all the spot-hammer marks from the hand-made manufacture. The quality is excellent with a good sturdy weight and a clear set of crisply struck hallmarks. A fine vase in excellent condition.

These days, the company began by Robert Welch is still trading from a shop in Chipping Camden and is especially well-known for its cutlery designs that continue to be top sellers from major UK retailers. Welch was a contemporary of Gerald Benney at the Royal College of Art during the 1950's and first burst on to the design scene in the 1960's with his award winning Old Hall range.
