Table Spoons (6) - Dog Nose Pattern - London 1706 by Lawrence Jones - 20cm long; 370g combined weight - DS/1834

This a fabulous set of six high quality Queen Anne period silver dog nose table spoons.

With a gross weight of 12 tr.oz, these spoons have a good hefty weight and the original engraved coat-of-arms to the reverse terminal endorses this fact. Adding tincture (colouring) to engraved armorials on silver did not become common practice until the 1720's.

The spoons were made by the top London spoonmaker Lawrence Jones who had been apprenticed to John King and bear his "Jo" new standard maker's mark. The spoons are made from Britannia standard silver and the London hallmarks although partly rubbed, are still legible in the majority of cases.

These are a fine set of spoons with just a tiny amount of wear to the bowl tips and a lovely antique patina. Priced at just £400 per spoon, this set represents excellent value for money!
