Toddy Ladle - Fiddle Pattern - Wick circa 1840 by John Sellar - 17.3cm long; 34g - RH/2363b

This is an elegant and rare antique Scottish provincial silver toddy ladle made in Wick by John Sellar.

The ladle is in the fiddle pattern with the addition of a bevelled edging and the front terminal is free from personalised engravings with no erasures. The highly cherished Scottish provincial marks are very crisp and include the "WICK" name and two "JS" maker's marks for Sellar. This Georgian toddy ladle is in fine condition.

Wick is the most northerly of the mainland Scotland provincial silver making centres.
