Rural Scenes Silver Milk Jug, Dublin 1978

This is a large silver cream or milk jug in the Irish taste of the 18th century and made by the top Dublin silversmiths Alwright and Marshall. 

The jug stands 11cm high and has a good hefty weight of over 8 troy ounces. It is chased to the sides with a fox, swan and the cartouche to the front remains free from personal engravings. Standing on three lion mask legs and bearing Dublin hallmarks to the underside, this impressive looking jug is of the highest quality and is in superb, polished condition.
