Cream Jug - Helmet-shape on Pedestal Foot - London 1788 by Hester Bateman - 16.3cm tall; 130g - CM/5904

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a lovely George III period silver cream jug with the bonus of being made by the Queen of English Silversmiths, Hester Bateman.

The jug stands tall on a pedestal, square foot with a looping handle and helmet-shaped body. The bead mounts to the top rim and around the foot are typical of Hester Bateman pieces from the 1780's and the beautiful, engraved shield-shaped cartouche to the front is infilled with flowers and a flowing script letter "B".

This handsome silver cream jug remains in excellent condition with the full set of London hallmarks located to each corner of the underside of the foot.
