Pap Boat - Floral Scroll Mount; Gilt Interior - London 1817 by Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne - 14cm long, 8.5cm max width, 2.3cm high;108g - FS/6632

This is a sumptuous antique silver-gilt pap boat made during the Regency period and bearing original presentation engraving to the underside.

This pap boat has a good feeling of quality in the hand and has beautifully made floral scroll mount to the top rim. Made by the partnership of Wallis & Hayne, this pap boat has a richly gilt (gold-wash) interior and is in excellent condition. Pap boats were used for feeding infants and the underside is engraved: "JM from her Aunt Hargreaves 1817" - presumably the year that JM was born.
