Patch Box - Portrait of Queen Anne - London circa 1710 by Thomas Kedder - 2.1cm diameter; 1.1cm high; 5g - HD/8773a</p>
This small cylindrical box bears a chased portrait of Queen Anne (with "Q" " A" either side) to the top of the removable cover. This patch box is clearly marked "TK" to the underside for Thomas Kedder who was a specialist in making these boxes. It is unknown as to whether there was a commemorative purpose to the box - perhaps celebrating Anne's coronation in 1702, her death in 1714, the union of England & Scotland in 1707 or the victory by The Duke of Marlborough at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. The box remains in good order throughout.
