1690 Trefid Spoon by Edward Hulse

This is a good example of a William & Mary period silver trefid spoon. It has a good set of hallmarks with the scarce EH crowned makers mark of Edward Hulse, and although the date letter is partly mis-struck the lower half of the distinctive "n" date letter can be seen. The spoon has a full bowl with just minor thinning to the leading edge and rubbing to the beaded rattail to the reverse. There is also some evidence of possible burial with the pitting along the top of the handle. Although there are several minor issues with this spoon, in reality there is nothing major wrong with it and it is actually a good spoon, a typical example of its type and at a very competitive price.
