Salt Spoons (pair) - Double Shell & Laurel pattern - London 1818 by Paul Storr - 10.6cm long; 56g combined weight - KN/5239b

This is a rare pair of George III silver salt spoons in the highly desirable double, shell & laurel pattern and made by the greatest English silversmith of the 19th century, Paul Storr.

The pair have crisp double-struck decoration and are free from any engravings (possibly been erased). The gilding to the bowls adds that extra touch of class. The appropriate small-work hallmarks are located to the underside of the bowls. A great pair of Paul Storr salt spoons!

Double Shell & Laurel pattern is a rare variant of King's pattern and is considered to be one of the most prestigious and desirable of all British flatware designs. First made by Paul Storr circa 1810 for the royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, the pattern must have originally had an extraordinary premium price as very few services exist.
