Pair of Irish Silver Shoe Buckles, c.1770 L&H
Sold
Shoe Buckles (pair) - Dublin circa 1770 by L&H - 6.2cm x 4.9cm; 79g combined weight - GA/3474
Irish silver shoe buckles are extremely rare and this pair benefit from also being in fine condition.
They are rectangular in form with an attractive silver mount. The steel chapes for fastening the buckles remain present and in good order. Enigmatically, both buckles bear a clear "L&H" maker's mark that we have been unable to trace and may belong to a specialist, Dublin-based buckle maker, in addition to the Hibernia and crowned harp marks.
Dating from the second half of the 18th century, these are a fine pair of silver buckles in excellent condition.
