Wine Coasters (pair) - Round with Gadroon Mounts - London 1812/14 by Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard - 15.3cm diameter; 4.5cm high; 668g combined gross weight - FY/7319

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Emes & Barnard were one of the most important early 19th century silversmithing workshops that blossomed in to the largest London silver manufactory of the 19th century - Barnards. These handsome wine coasters display the typical Regency feature of a gadroon mount around the top, and more unusually the lower, rims of the silver gallery and have a nice solid feel to them.

The coasters are fitted with turned wooden inserts that have concentric circles cut in to them to prevent vacuum with wine bottles forming and baize to the undersides to protect dining tables. The central silver bosses are engraved with an initial and appropriately part hallmarked. The full set of hallmarks are located on the outer rims and both coasters are of the finest quality and in excellent condition.
