Chambersticks (pair) - Oval with Reeded Borders and Central Light - London 1791 by John Crouch & Thomas Hannam - 16.5cm long x 15cm wide x 10.5cm high; 634 grams - CR/4569

These are a wonderful pair of George III silver chambersticks complete with original conical extinguishers and removable sconce nozzles.

Made for lighting the way as you moved around the house at night, these chamber candlesticks are dish-shaped to catch any spilled wax and have removable nozzles to ease the cleaning of the spent wax. The snuffers put out the candles and the apertures in the central light can hold wick trimmers. They were made by the top silversmithing partnership of Crouch and Hannam and a full set of hallmarks is located to the underside of the base of both pieces and all component parts are appropriately marked.

These antique silver chambersticks are in excellent condition with a great patina.
