Sauce Tureens (pair) - 2-handled, Oval on Four Paw Feet & with Lift-off Covers - London 1819 by William Eaton - 23cm long; 14cm high; 1860g combined weight - RD/5754

The calibre of this Regency pair of antique silver sauce tureens is quite stunning. They have a really hefty weight of almost 1kg each and exude the very highest quality throughout. They are engraved with the coat of arms of the original owners and the decoration is opulent, expertly done and tasteful.

These late George III period tureens stand on four paw feet capped with finely detailed shell and wreath decoration, have two robust side handles and a lift-off cover with central handle. The bold, gadroon mount to the rim and banding around the cover is typical of the Regency period. The full coat of arms is beautifully engraved to both tureens and are for the Sewell family.

Both of these tureens remain in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair and retain a fine antique patina.
