Mug - London 1930 by Omar Ramsden - 10.2cm high; 7.8cm diameter (top rim); 380ml volume; 317g - HJ/3915
This is a fabulous and scarce silver mug made by the great Omar Ramsden.
Made in the arts & crafts style with an all over spot hammered finish from being hand-wrought, this good-sized mug or tankard has a pleasing hefty weight in the hand and oozes high quality both of design and manufacture. It has the additonal bonus of being in fine condition with no personalised engravings.
A full set of London hallmarks with the cherished "OR" maker's mark are located adjacent to the handle and the underside bears the iconic legend "OMAR RAMSDEN ME FECIT". In business from 1898 to 1939, Omar Ramsden is widely recognised to have been the greatest British silversmith of the 20th century.
