Pepper Pot - Owl - London 1873 by Edward Charles Brown - 7.2cm high; 40g - TC/7681

This well-made novelty, Victorian, silver pepper pot takes the form of an owl.

Made by Edward Brown of the London retailers Richards & Brown, this nicely modelled figure is complete with original stone eyes and stands steady on its two feet and tail. The lift-off head is pierced (plus there are a few tiny holes to the beak) and gilt to the interior.

Full sets of London hallmarks are located on both the body (on the tail) and the head (on the collar) and the pepper pot remains in fine condition.
