Salt Pots (pair) - With blue glass liners - London 1789 by Hester Bateman - 8.5cm wide x 4.3cm high; 116g combined weight of silver - NK/6452

These are a terrific pair of Georgian silver salt pots made by the famous Hester Bateman.

They are cauldron type salts, but are a little unusual in being oval rather than than the usual round form. Each salt cellar stands on four hoof feet, has a beaded rim and removable blue glass liner to prevent salt corrosion to the silver.

Georgian silver salts pots are often blighted by numerous condition issues, however this pair have survived in remarkably good order with little in the way of corrosion and no dents, damage nor repair. The hallmarks are in legible condition too with good examples of the desirable cursive script "HB" maker's mark for Hester Bateman.
