Novelty Silver Inkwell & Stamp Box Scuttle, 1907
£395.00
Inkwell & Stamp Box - Coal Scuttle - Birmingham 1907 - 142g (weight of silver) - BG/7011
This is a lovely novelty silver inkwell and stamp box in the form of a coal scuttle.
Dating from the Edwardian period, the cover of this silver inkwell opens to reveal a removable ceramic inkwell (with hairline cracks but intact and solid) and a further pull down cover gives acces to the stamp holder which is curved to allow easy retrieval. The hallmarks to the side are a little rubbed but the Birmingham date letter for 1907 can be clearly seen inside the lid and the underside is stamped for the Harrogate retailers Snow and Ashworth.
This novelty piece is in fine condition and remains practicable - it's very competitive pricing accounts for the ceramic pot hairlines and worn hallmarks!
(N.B. the black, wavy line in the first photo across the lid is a reflection!)
