Wine Funnel - Gadroon Mount & Shell Hook - Newcastle 1799 by Christian & David Reid - 13.5cm high; 9cm diameter; 120g - BV/5558

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This good quality wine funnel benefits from being excellent condition with its original swan-neck funnel still intact. This two part funnel comprises a top strainer section and a spout. The strainer has drilled holes, a gadroon mount and cast shell hanging hook to the sides. The elegant spout has three applied bars to allow air to escape when placed in a decanter and also the bend at the end will prevent the wine from bruising (it is directed towards the side of the decanter rather allowing a long drop).

Bearing a full set of slightly worn Newcastle late 18th century hallmarks, this handsome wine funnel is in fine condition throughout and was made by the important Reid family partnership who were set to dominate silversmithing in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the next 100 years+ and still maintain a retailing presence in the city as part of Mappin & Webb.
