Large Double Silver Snuff Box, 1815 T&J Phipps

This is a superb quality George III silver snuff box made by the father and son partnership of Thomas & James Phipps.

This good-sized box has a clever, single central hinge to the top so that a flap can be raised on either side revealing two compartments for carrying different types of snuff. The interiors are richly gilt and the London hallmarks can be clearly seen to the base and part-marks to the cover of one side.

This handsome box is in superb condition with no personalised engravings and a nice, plain and elegantly-shaped appearance.
