Cup - Two-handled with Cover - London 1761 by Francis Crump - 26.5cm high; 24cm wide (13cm diameter top rim); 1270g - BG/4266
Georgian silver cups are rarely as good as this fabulous mid-18th century example by Francis Crump.
The whole piece has been made from a good thick gauge of silver giving it a super-heavy weight of over 40 tr.oz that is immediately obvious when lifting it up with the double-scroll handles. One side has been engraved with a double "S" mirrored cipher with supporting grasses. The main set of hallmarks are located to the underside of the foot and include the "FC" maker's mark of Francis Crump. The cup comes complete with its original lift-off cover with turned finial atop and its own matching, full set of complementing hallmarks to the inside.
A fabulous early George III period silver cup in fine condition.
