This silver table spoon is a scarce piece of Chester silver dating from the reign of King William IV.
Fully hallmarked for Chester 1836 and made by John Sutter, this fiddle pattern table spoon bears original script engraved initials with additional flourishes to the front terminal and is in excellent condition with a good patina.
John Sutter was a Liverpool based silversmith who sent his wares to his nearest assay office in Chester. Chester-marked silver from the early 19th century is scarce and this silver table spoon bears a cleanly struck set of hallmarks for the city.
