Irish Provincial Silver Bowl, Cork 1800 by Carden Terry
£750.00
Bowl - Round; 3 Hoof Feet - Cork circa 1800 by Carden Terry - 12cm diameter; 5.7cm high; 126g - TN/7566
This is a good quality Irish provincial silver bowl made in Cork by Carden Terry.
The bowl stands on three acanthus leaf-decorated, hoof feet and a wavy rim in the James I style to the top. Bowls of this type rarely survive in good condition, but this example is free from any splits or repairs and has just very minor bruising and internal scratching to the body.
The bowl is clearly marked to the underside with the CT mark for the important Cork silversmith Carden Terry and his working period 1784 - 1821 helps date the piece, with the most likely timeframe being 1790-1807.
