Soup Ladle - Decorated Hook-end - Dublin 1765 by David Peter - 33cm long; 175g - SW/2747

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fine example of a mid-18th century silver hook-end soup ladle with the scarce addition of original chased scroll decoration down the handle.

This large Dublin-made soup ladle has a hook-end to the handle in traditional Irish style and a lovely, fluted bowl. The handle terminal is also engraved with an indistinct crest with coronet surmount. There is some scratching to the reverse of the handle adjacent to the hallmarks from where the ladle has rubbed for many years against its tureen, but the date letter for 1765 and the script "DP" makers mark for David Peter remain legible. The ladle is in good overall condition.
