Devonshire Pattern Silver Soup Ladle, 1864
£440.00
Soup Ladle - Devonshire pattern - London 1864 by Hunt & Roskell - 34cm long; 295g - TM/9135j
This is a fabulous quality mid-Victorian silver soup ladle in the highly sought after Devonshire pattern. It has a tremendous weight and good, crisp double-struck decoration. This fine quality large ladle is hallmarked for the crown jewellers, Hunt & Roskell (probably made on their behalf by Chawner & Company) and remains in fine condition with no personalised engravings.
Devonshire pattern was named in honour of the Duke of Devonshire, Cavendish family of Chatsworth House, that originally commissioned a service in this design. It is a scarce and highly desirable silver flatware pattern.
