Hook-end Silver Irish Basting Spoon, 1785

This is a great example of an Irish silver hook-end basting spoon.

This 11.5" long spoon has the diagnostic curve to the end of the handle and is engraved to the front with an original engraved crest of a griffin and a slightly later crossed swords crest above it.

The Dublin hallmarks to the reverse show a slightly worn date letter "N" and the "C.H" maker's mark for the top silversmith Christopher Haines. The spoon is in great condition.
