Hanoverian Silver Table Spoon, Jersey c1780
£100.00
Table Spoon - Hanoverian - Jersey circa 1780 by George Mauger - 19.6cm long; 37g - JA/6270a
Due to their light-weight nature, few early/mid 18th century spoons from the Channel Islands have survived in good order, but this is a great antique example in fine condition.
Made by George Mauger of Jersey, this Hanoverian silver table spoon has the typical ridge to the top of the front terminal and a double heel to the reverse of the bowl. Original Roman-style initials are engraved to the reverse stem, together with the "GM" maker's mark stamped across the lower shank. The spoon has a full, unworn bowl and lovely patina.
